Carrie and I cleared the inlet bright and early to see a great sunrise and find more bait than we knew what to do with. We saw about 25 boats all piled up over the shallow reefs in about 40' of water. We loaded up on Sardines and Goggle Eyes and headed out to catch fish or that was the plan. Instead we found sharks to be menacing and it was nearly impossible to avoid them. Within 30 minutes we had lost all of our goggle eyes to sharks and sardines weren't too far behind. We did manage a some assortment of bottom fish but the sharks proved to be too thick to conquer. On the bright side we had a good time and the weather was perfect. Lucky for the sharks I was not prepared with the big shark rods however next time the sharks will be in for a battle if they want to play this game again.Seas were about 2-3' with a N/NW wind. Skies were clear and temps were in the mid 80's. Water temps were about 80 and there were a ton of weeds in shallow but not offshore. The gulf stream was about 7 miles offshore.

Tommy Bahama, T-Max, Lindsey and I hit the inlet bright and early to try to catch the calmest of seas (all relative considering they were 6-8' on Saturday). We found a brisk northwest wind but allowed us to get offshore at least until the wind shifted to the north. We cleared the inlet and found boats piled up over the wrecks loading up on sardines. Tyler and Tommy put several in the livewell and we headed out to catch us some fish. We set up shop in about 90' and the water was crystal clear. Tyler had a quick hit but nothing to show for it. The wind really started to howl out of the N/NW around 9am so we headed in a little tighter to shore and trolled for some kings. We landed 2 bonito and 1 decent sized king. We then decided to do some bottom fishing and sure enough we had a Sailfish come right behind the boat. We pitched a perfect cast with a live sardine and the sail didn't want anything to do with it. After that Tyler landed a nice Yellowtail and a Queen snapper. There were flying fish and bait everywhere. Gulfstream was in very tight to shore and water was so clear you could see bottom in about 60' of water. Good to see after the dirty water of the last few weeks. We couldn't fish way offshore like we wanted but we had a lot of action for rough conditions and having to be limited to close to the inlet.Winds were NW becoming N and actually relaxed as the day went on. Skies were mostly clear other than a few patchy clouds. Temps were in the 60's and a bit chilly.

Carrie, Becca, Doug and I cleared the inlet around 8am with a low cloud deck but very calm seas. We headed south in about 30' of water thinking we would catch some blue runners around The Breakers. Luckily, we hit a huge pod of sardines and loaded up with the sabikis. We also managed a few blue runners for shark bait! Since it was so calm we pushed offshore just east and south of The Breakers and found a decent weedline in 390'. Within seconds of tossing in a live sardine we had a dolphin on. Becca boated the first one then Carrie put one in the cooler and Doug finished the dolphin slaying by adding another to the cooler. We had a fourth but he jumped off. Great way to start the day considering the previous trip. After that we headed in shallow to try bottom fishing with not much luck. We headed offshore again and found weeds from 300' all the way to 1000'. We had another dolphin spotted but he would not bite. He looked like he was feeding with birds hovering but not luck. The girls wanted to catch a shark so we slow trolled some blue runners off Singer Island from Tierra to the inlet with no luck. We zig zagged from 20' to 60' and finally got a bite in 55'. Line started screaming from the Always and Forever rod! Doug took over and got it up to the boat only to find out it was a monster Kingfish! Estimated about 40lbs! Great way to cap off a pretty good day. Temps were in the mid to upper 80's and it was sunny once the skies cleared around 9am. Winds were from the W, NW and switched to the SE in the afternoon but were light. Seas were 1' or less building to 2' as the afternoon went on.

Since winds were kicking up we decided to take a sunset cruise which happened to be Kayles first trip on BlueSteel! Carrie, her parents, Kayle and I cruised around sight seeing and enjoyed a nice evening cruise with a spectacular sunset. Fun trip even though we did not fish!

LJ, Hannah, Andrew and I headed offshore around 9am but found sloppy seas and green, murky water. We headed out to around 200' and found a great color change and weedline straight out the inlet but nothing was home. We followed that for a little while with nothing to show for it. We headed in shallow to bottom fish and nothing home there either. With the fishless streak in jeopardy we tried one last prayer by trolling over the trust cuda spot with no luck! The streak came to an end! Seas were about 3' with winds out of the North, northeast. Temps were about average and skies were partly cloudy. We did not have live bait and got a late start but after speaking to people at the dock, most everyone struggled catching fish. The boat ramp was packed with Floatopia partiers which was ridiculous!

Luke, Sarah, Austin and I cleared the inlet around 8 and struggled to catch fish until late in the day when we had a bonito hit the line as we were trolling the beach. The bonito never stood a chance against the sharks as we had a big spinner shark sky rocket out of the water and mangle the bonito. Nothing left but a carcus and broken lure! Seas were somewhat rough and we did have to head in a little early as one of the crew members had some sea sickness problems. Names will go unnamed. Winds were out of the north/northeast and it was somewhat chilly in the wind.

Andrew, Doug and I headed offshore to do some kite fishing. We were in 170' when we had some action. We had a large Sailfish or even possibly a Marlin take the bait but he bit through our wire rig. It was a monster fish but didn't think either of those would break wire. Other than that we had a bonito and a few small snapper and other misc bottom fish.Winds were out of the NW/North and kicked up as the day went on. Temps were mild. Water was very clear.

We cleared the inlet early hoping to redeem ourselves and found an incredible sunrise to boost our spirits. After seeing where the fish were and how the day before went, we didn't bother with the kite so we could get baits in the water asap. The cold fronts definitely had done their job by pushing fish down into our waters but were still off Jupiter more than Palm Beach. Had our first hookup at 715am in 120' of water and it was a +/-15lb King landed by Tyler. Second hookup of the day was at 735am and it was the long awaited Sailfish. Only downside is the hook was pulled after about a one minute fight. After that we had a lull in the action other than sharks. We decided to bottom fish off Singer with no luck so we then headed offshore around 11am in search for weeds. We found massive patches of weeds but were only able to pull a 4lb Tripletail off them. After that we ran into a huge school of skipjack and put 3 in the cooler before heading in. All in all it was a good day considering the day before and the shaky start to the morning. Just happy to be fishing in warm weather and calm seas in January!

This was supposed to be Tyler's triumphant conquering of Mr. Sailfish before he gets married however it instead turned into one of the worst "fishing" days possible. If there was something that could go wrong, it went wrong. Lost Sails, broken reels, dead bait, tangled lines contributing to losing fish, captain messing up the kite, etc...
Highlight of the day was seeing a Sailfish literally hit the boat while cruising by and a massive school (500+ Tarpon) swimming off Breakers in 20' of water. GoPro footage to come.

Andrew, Thomas, Carrie and yours truly hit the waters around 7am despite 48 degree air temps! We loaded up on goggle eyes thanks to Dynamite Live Bait. We started off the morning by flying the kite. Had no problems at first but then the winds changed and made it difficult to keep it flying. We then just freelined the baits and landed a Bonita. After several hours of relatively no action we saw another free jumping Sail in about 160' but no luck getting him to bite. We then did a little bottom fishing and pulled up a keep Mutton in about 115'. We had heard they were spawning so they would be pretty easy to catch. Otherwise a very slow, chilly day but still a great day on the water. Once again the seas were supposed to be 4-6' but with a NW that means fishable within a few miles of the coast. Gulfstream was reportedly 3 miles from shore and water temps were about 77 degrees 1-2 miles out. The full moon was 2 days before and skies were perfectly clear.

On BlueSteel's 6th birthday, Andrew and I hit the inlet despite calls for 3-5' seas. We got to the ramp by 6am and were rewarded with 6 free goggle eyes from a nice charter boat captain! After this score Andrew and I thought we were all but gaurunteed his first Sail however after seeing one free jump before sunrise we did not see another. We did manage one +/-8lb Dolphin on a Goggle Eye and a 15lb Bonita. Other than that it was pretty quiet despite perfect conditions. Our only thought was that the Sailfish Derby earlier in the week put a dent in the Sailfish bite. Either way we were just happy to be out there and to kickoff the new year and break in the new rods with a decent dolphin!
